It has not gone unnoticed at Clwb Pel-Droed that the game has recently lost one of its characters in Donald Pike. Donald was passionate about Port Talbot FC and we would like to pass our condosclences to all connected at the club including Donald’s family and friends at this difficult time.
Donald was a Steelman through and through and indeed was the clubs groundsman for nearly 30 years, taking pride in the pitch at the club that he loved so much. Donald’s legacy lives on at the club through Mark Pike, his son, who is now the Academy Director at PTT and indeed Donald was a proud grandfather to development squad player Jordan Pike.
One of Donald proudest moments came when Port Talbot Town progressed into Europe. The Steelmen had finished in 3rd place during the 2009/2010 season and this enabled them to play in the Europa league, however, sadly the Steelmen bowed out of europe going down on aggregreate 7-1 to Turun Palloseura of Finland.
RIP, from all at Clwb Pel-Droed.
