Arrests made over match fixing scandal

10 men have been arrested in relation to the match fixing scandal at Port Talbot Town last season, which saw the club lose 4-0 to a Rhyl side who hadn’t won in 16 games.

The Steelmen have suffered a torrid time on and off the field in the past season. After achieving survival, the club were rumoured to have been under investigation over suspicious betting patterns in relation to the Rhyl game. The club were also then relegated due to their failure to get a domestic license.

However, after what has been a summer of change at the club, 10 people have been arrested in relation to the rumoured match fixing.

Time will tell if the arrests lead to any charges, but Port Talbot will be hoping for a swift resolution to move on from what is undoubtedly not good news for the club.
