Weekends Gwent County Round Up.

Division 1

After Saturdays results Albion Rovers lead the way after a thumping 4-2 home result on the weekend beating Malpas United. Not to be outdone in the scoring stakes, P.I.L.C.S.FC beat A.C Pontymister 2-7 away from home and now sit second in the league, trailing Albion Rovers by one point. 

In third place Newport YMCA beat Abercarn United 3-0 at home and despite having the same number of points as P.I.L.C.S.FC, trail on goal difference.  Albion rovers have 10 points with P.I.L.C.S.FC and Newport YMCA on 9 points respectively.

Meanwhile at the wrong end of the table rooted to the bottom are Marshfield AFC, Newport Civil Service and Blaenavon Blues. All three teams have zero points and will be looking to improve this Tuesday evening by recording their first win or indeed grab a point to start their campaign. Marshfield AFC will be away at high flying P.I.L.C.S FC,  Blaenavon Blues face the league leaders Albion Rovers at home and Newport Civil Service are at home against AC Pontymister.

Division 2

Leading the way with four wins on the bounce and 12 points are Spencer Youth and BC. On the weekend, they ground out a hard fought 1-2 away win at Abertillery Excelsiors. In second place, we have Fairfield United and in third place, Villa Dino Christchurch. Both teams have nine points but Fairfield edge Villa on goal difference. This Tuesday evening should see a great game at Villa Dino Christchurch, as they entertain the league leaders in what is set to be a great footballing encounter.

FC Tredegar prop up the table failing to secure any points this season so far. Wattsville are also joint bottom with no points, but have a slightly better goal difference than FC Tredegar. Just off the bottom of the league are Llanhilleth Athletic on 1 point. Llanhilleth have work to do after a crushing 0-6 home defeat on the weekend to Fairfield United. This Tuesday they will be travelling to nearby Wattsville in a basement encounter with both teams looking to secure their first win of the season. FC Tredegar, who play their home games at the Tredegar sports centre, kick off on Tuesday at 18:15 and will be looking to get some points against Lucas Cwmbran AFC.

Division 3

Its early days, but in Division 3 Sudbrook Cricket Club AFC have won four out of four and have 12 points. In second place in the league, Machen AFC chase the leaders with 10 points and in third place sits Race AFC  with nine points and a slightly better goal difference than West of St.Julians, who also have nine points.  

Sudbrook had a resounding 9-1 home win against Sebastopol FC on the weekend and will be full of confidence heading into Tuesday’s game away at Mardy AFC. Machen AFC will be looking to keep their fine form going against Rhymney FC on Tuesday whilst Race AFC are away at Ponthir FC.

At the wrong end of the table there is much work to do for Nantyglo FC who currently have not picked up any points this season. Above them sit Rogerstone AFC on one point and third from bottom sit Sebastopol FC. All three teams will be in action Tuesday night and looking to pick some points up to start climbing the table.
