HUWS GRAY ALLIANCE: Player and Manager of the Month: SEPTEMBER

Eddie Maurice-Jones of Gresford Athletic and Asa Hamilton of Buckley Town have won Manager and Player of the Month for September.

Eddie guided Gresford Athletic to 5 wins out of 6 in the month of September beating Denbigh Town twice, Buckley Town, Conwy Borough and Ruthin Town.

By receiving the award it

“Myself and the team are always be working hard and doing our best to improve. However it’s rewarding to receive recognition. It makes it all worth while putting time and effort in.”

Maurice-Jones remain grounded and knows that despite the successful month, the targets have not changed for the season.

Our expectations haven’t changed; they are still the same as we would always be looking to finish in a respectable position. We set our standard last year and we plan to continue in that vein.

Gresford had won just one game in five before the month of September, but the manager remained confident that his side would come good.

I am very pleased with the performances. After a slow start to the season, I had confidence in the team and knew we would hit some form.

Asa Hamilton of Buckley Town was chosen as Player of the Month in the Huws Gray Alliance. It came as a surprise considering he had only scored twice, compared to many other players who have scored but his hard work has been noted.

I’m really pleased to be named Player of the Month. I wasn’t expecting it to be honest because I know a few lads around the league have been scoring a lot of goals but I have been working my socks off of late.

Buckley Town Manager Ben Chamberlain commented on Asa’s award.

“It is well deserved. Asa has been excellent for us since joining us at the start of the season. You can’t fault his passion and desire for the game, he’s a winner through and through.

He’s definitely an asset, I know he has been frustrated with not scoring as many as he liked so far, however his work rate has been top class and he works for the team, so I’m positive the goals will come.”
