The New Saints categorically denied any approach from Shrewsbury Town regarding Craig Harrison and Shrewbury’s managerial vacancy in a statement this morning.
Harrison’s name has been mentioned in both the press and social media with links to League One outfit Shrewsbury Town and the hotspot at Wrexham AFC.
Whilst The New Saints have moved to deny any contact with Shrewsbury, links with Wrexham remain purely rumour, with over 70 applications reportedly received for the coveted Dragons spot.
Speaking to TNS’ official website, Chairman Mike Harris said:
‘It is with no great surprise that our manager is being linked with vacant managerial jobs as Craig has been extremely successful in his five-year tenure. Should an approach ever be made to the club, the matters would be dealt with internally, as not to distract our clubs extremely ambitious desire for Champions League football.’
A mid-season statement on a managerial position is rarely seen in the Welsh Premier League and may be seen as a bold move from the champions.
