Caernarfon travel to Gresford Athletic on Saturday as the Cofis look to close the gap on Prestatyn, Iwan Williams speaks to YClwbPelDroed before the match.
After winning in the Cup last Saturday, Caernarfon will go into the game on the back of an unbeaten festive period for the Cofis, but Williams wasn’t as content with the performance on Saturday.
“I wasn’t overly happy with the performance against Denbigh and with that I now have a selection headache going into the game against Gresford which is a better problem to have rather than the one I’ve had for most of December!”
With plenty of players available for Caernarfon, Williams feels that starting the game off with a high intensity will deal with the strong outfit of Gresford.
“We have everyone fit and raring to go and our forwards are starting to hit a little bit of form. Gresford has always been a difficult place to go so we must ensure that we look after the ball well and start the game with high intensity.”
After the appointment of Steve Halliwell, the Cofis boss feels that Halliwell has re-vitalised the club and is aware of the task in hand on Saturday.
“Gresford have done really well thus far and many thought that they may struggle with the change of management but it’s seemed to have re-vitalised them. We are under no illusions, we have to apply ourselves properly as we know it’s going to be a difficult game as was the case when we scraped a 1-0 win there last season.”
On what to expect from the game?
“We’re expecting a tight and physical game so we have to be prepared to go into battle. We can mix it though as much as any team so hopefully we can perform with a good balance of physicality as well as quality.”
